ABOUT BREED

Siberian Cat is a representative of one of natural semi longhairs breeds. This means that human didn't has any influence in their evolution. The beginning of breed is dated for XVII century, but some sources says about even XI century. Breed came from Siberia and it is one of the most common cat breeds in Russia. This cat was introduced to foreign countries not so long ago, at West Europe after breakaway of CCCP. In 1989 the breed was discovered in Union of Soviet Socialist Republice by Mr. and Mrs. Schultz, cat lovers from DDR. They had bought a couple of them in Leningrad. Short history of those cats in foreign countries caused that in the many Western countries genealogical documentation of that breed is very poor. They came to Poland in 1989 when Jolanta Sztykiel brought there first Siberian Cat.

TEMPERAMENT

Siberians are very agile, lively and are hot-tempered, but they are very friendly and sensitive. They aren't aggressive and don't have devastation outbursts. Those cats love to climb and jump, you can also notice them in high places and at furniture. They are wonderful hunters. It is possible that long ago people from Siberia used them as "house guardians", because they often reacts with meowing when they see some stranger coming near their house. To their family these cats are very sociable, unobtrusive and independent.

WZORZEC

Siberian cats have broad base of ears, with fringes on top, slightly slanting eyes, fringes among the pads, paws and at hind legs.
